    • Fix Version/s: None
    • Component/s: editor
    • Environment:

      Windows Vista

      Description

      See attachment for example of how it breaks (the whole file, or sometimes just big chunks of code, will turn white). Often the highlighting breaks when adding variables in a string.

      Ex

      echo 'lorem ipsum '.$var.' some more text';

      From what I've noticed (but I can't seem to reproduce this deliberately) this will usually happen when I add a variable AFTER have written out the whole string and then add the single quotes to escape and add a variable. More often than not I have to reopen the file for it to get back to normal.

          Also, the similar thing happens when you add multi-line comment around existing lines of code but you add space before the comment

          for example the problem exist if you have

          _/*
          echo 'blabla';
          _*/

          the problem doesn't exist if you have
          /*
          echo 'blabla';
          */

          (replace the _ with space)

          Hi guys,

          I spent some time trying to reproduce this but w/o any success.
          In the mean time we did some fixes to php coloring in 3.0.4 which is in beta builds. Can you try to switch to it and see if it's fixed.
          See http://wiki.appcelerator.org/display/tis/Changing+the+Update+Type for switching instructions.

          Thanks,
          Max

          I updated and waited a bit before replying (wanted to test it on my bigger files). Since the update the problem hasn't cropped up! Well done.

          Hmm I'm not sure it's fixed. I attached a screen capture to the original post.

          Quality of the picture isn't great since the contrast between the green and brown isn't big. But after the <?=$labels['value']?> it thinks the rest of the file is inside an HTML attribute (or has the same green colour)

          Once reopened the colouring is back to normal, so not like in the screenshot.

          Hi Seb,

          Do you know what in what order you typed characters/modifies code sections etc. ?
          This would really help to reproduce the issue.

          Thanks,
          Max

          This was a few days ago so my memory is a little foggy but from what I can recall I was replacing the "Submit" value with a label to allow for the translation of the app. When I do this step in a file I usually copy paste the <?=$label['']?> bit of code in the various places (and change the index label afterward). I hope that helps!

          Thank you for your patience. Please test the fix. Update to the beta branch (see http://preview.appcelerator.com/studio/ for details, choosing the "beta" stream for Aptana Studio 3.0.5) and let us know if it does (or does not) fix the problem ASAP.

          Sorry for taking so long, I didn't get the email notification because it wasn't being sent to an old email and the forwarding seems to have been turned off (grr!). I installed 3.0.5 and will work with it today, hopefully I will be able to give you an answer soon.
